Surrey Police’s Operational Policing Review
What is the review about:
- Creating up to 200 police constable posts
- tackling antisocial behaviour
- increased capacity within neighbourhoods
- reducing serious criminality - Better partnership working by locating neighbourhood teams in council offices
- Greater range of engagement opportunities for public (e.g. libraries, shopping centres)
- Ensuring Surrey Police is a financially sustainable force
How will we achieve this:
- Introduce a simpler policing model
- Replacing some police buildings with better ways to access our services
- Review of leadership numbers
The proposals were agreed in principle at a Police Authority meeting on 10 December. There will now be more detailed planning and then implementation during 2010 / 2011.
