Get involved with county life
There has never been a better time for Surrey residents to get involved in county life, judging by a new fact sheet from Surrey Police and partners.
The newsletter, devised by Surrey Police, councils, NHS and voluntary services, offers guidance on how people can have their say on local issues and play a more active part in their community.
And, if anyone needs a little extra encouragement, they can complete a pledge explaining how they intend to make a difference for the chance to win a host of exciting prizes. Hopefuls must hurry though, as entries need to be submitted by Friday, 30 July.
Deputy Chief Constable Craig Denholm said: “Surrey is a great county and I know that a lot of residents are extremely proud to live here.
“We all want to get the very best out of where we live but perhaps not everyone is aware just how much influence they can have. I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they read about some of the ways they can get involved and the positive difference they can make.”
The newsletter lists 20 ways in which readers might choose to make their mark including attending police panel meetings, starting a Neighbourhood Watch, joining the Special Constabulary, getting involved in Community Speed Watch, or nominating a community payback project. It can be found in local council magazines, picked up from police front counters, libraries and council offices, or viewed online on the Surrey Police website.
