Police attend serious road traffic collision on the M25

SURREY Police received a call shortly before 4.30pm today (Wednesday 28 July) reporting a serious road traffic collision on the clockwise carriageway of the M25.

Surrey Police can confirm that two vehicles were involved, a minibus and a car. There are no fatalities but a woman in her 40s was taken to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, with serious leg injuries and a 54-year-old man and a couple in their late 20s or early 30s were taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill with minor injuries.

The bus was travelling from Gatwick airport to the Earls Court West Brompton area of central London.

Collision Investigation Officers are still at the scene. It is too early to speculate on the cause. The motorway is expected to remain closed between junctions 6 and 8 clockwise for several hours whilst an investigation into the collision is carried out.

Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area is possible because of heavy congestion. The anti-clockwise carriageway remains open but traffic is moving very slowly. The M23 slip roads are closed.
