Update: M25 re-opened following serious road traffic collision

The M25 clockwise carriageway between junctions six and eight has now been re-opened following an earlier road traffic collision involving a car and a minibus.

Surrey Police were called shortly before 4.30pm today (Wednesday 28 July) to reports of a collision involving a car and minibus which had resulted in the minibus overturning and ending up on its side across the carriageway.

There were no fatalities but a woman in her 40s was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting with serious leg injuries and a 54-year-old man and a couple in their late 20s or early 30s were taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill with minor injuries.

The minibus had been travelling from Gatwick airport into central London.

Collision Investigation Officers remained at the scene for a number of hours carrying out their enquiries. The vehicles have now been recovered and the carriageway cleared of debris.

Traffic congestion on the motorway and surrounding roads is now easing.
