Elmbridge teenager charged with graffiti tagging

An Elmbridge teenager will appear at Youth Court this week charged with three counts of criminal damage in Walton last year.

Th 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with damaging a street sign owned by Elmbridge Housing Trust between 19th November and 3rd December, damaging a garage door between the same dates as well as a garden gate, also between the same dates. All three offences refer to graffiti tagging and took place in Walton.

The teenager was arrested on 8th December was charged with the offences when he returned on bail to Staines Police Station on 30th December.

He will appear before North Surrey Youth Court at Staines on 7th January.

Elmbridge Borough Inspector Craig Knight said: “This arrest was due to yet more good work by Walton Neighbourhood Specialist Officer Pc Mark Gamson which will hopefully reduce the levels of graffiti in the north Walton area.

“We are keen to assure residents that work is being done to tackle graffiti not only by police but through our work with the Elmbridge Community Safety Partnership.

“We have pledged to continue to tackle the problem, and hope local residents will also assist us in providing as much information and help as possible in identifying offenders.”
