Tools worth thousands of pounds stolen from Horley building site

Officers are appealing to the building trade and DIY enthusiasts for information after approximately £8,000 worth of machinery and tools were stolen from a Horley building site.

The burglary happened sometime between 4.30pm on Wednesday, 28 and 7am on Thursday, 29 July, when access was gained to a premise on the Balcombe Road.

A selection of tools and machinery including a Paslode IM350 nail gun worth £360, a Belle Hydraulic breaker and power pack worth £3,300, a laser-level worth £1,000, a petrol vibrating poker worth £450 and a DeWalt hand-held breaker worth £400 were targeted.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Ian Chadwick said: “This has been a real setback for the victim who now has to replace all his expensive equipment. Power tools are always an attractive commodity for a thief which is why we encourage people to security mark all of their valuable possessions.

“The tools are incredibly valuable and I am sure the offender will try to sell them on at a heavily reduced price. If you are in the trade and are offered cheap tools, or perhaps you are a DIY enthusiast and someone tries to sell you discount machinery, please let us know as they may have been stolen from this site.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference RB/10/7146 or Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
