Three dogs seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act

Officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have seized three dogs in Tatsfield under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

An application was granted by South East Surrey Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday, 12 January) to seize two Rottweilers and a Staffordshire bull terrier from an address in Old Lane.

The seizure follows an incident on Wednesday, 6 January, when a Jack Russell dog was attacked in Old Lane, Tatsfield.

Tatsfield Neighbourhood Specialist Officer PC Martin Bassom said: “At my Tatsfield panel meeting on Monday (11 January) more than 30 residents attended and voiced their concerns about dangerous dogs in the area. I know my predecessor, PC Jo Clarke, worked hard to address this issue, and I hope our action on Tuesday reassures dog owners and the wider community that Surrey Police will act robustly to ensure the community is safe and feels safe.”

Tandridge Neighbourhood Inspector Elaine Burtenshaw added: “These three dogs have not been removed permanently it is for the court to decide what happens next. However, my officers will continue to support the local community and I hope they will work with us and pass on any information relating to dogs being dangerously out of control.”

Two Rottweilers, named Poppy and Ella, and a Staffordshire bull terrier called Charlie were seized from an address in Old Lane.
