The Dittons & Hinchley Wood

I am Ian Madelin, one of your Neighbourhood Specialist Officers for The Dittons and Hinchley Wood. I have been with Surrey Police since September 2008 starting initially as a volunteer Special Constable. Prior to joining the Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team I have covered all areas of Elmbridge, Runnymede and Spelthorne working as a Response Officer. I have also worked in the Criminal Investigation Department and have gained valuable experience in both fast-time and slow-time police work. I initially joined the Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team as a support Neighbourhood Specialist Officer working in the East Molesey, West Molesey and Weston Green areas. I then furthered my experience in Neighbourhood Policing working in the Walton Central and Hersham areas. My role in The Dittons and Hinchley Wood is to tackle neighbourhood issues and any other problems that arise and I will be working closely with PC Sharon Taylor, PCSO Nigel Oates and PCSO Justin Jones and the other Elmbridge based teams. I look forward to meeting you and working with all of the communities I will serve.

I have worked for Surrey Police since 2009 and have spent the vast majority of my time working in CID at Staines. I joined the Elmbridge Neighbourhood Team in February 2012 and I am now the local Neighbourhood Officer for Thames Ditton, Long Ditton and Hinchley Wood. Part of my priorities in the community is to deal with any speed enforcement issues, anti social behaviour incidents, routine patrols, reassurance visits and working with partnership agencies for example the council, housing or EHO. I hold regular panel meetings and surgeries with my colleagues where members of the public can attend to meet the team and raise any issues they might be experiencing in their neighbourhood.

I joined Surrey Police in March 2009 covering the Thames Ditton and Hinchley Wood area after spending over 30 years in the banking industry . My aim is to engage with the local community to ensure that crime and anti social behaviour is kept to a minimum by conducting regular meet the beats, surgeries and panel meetings around the neighbourhood Please feel free to approach me to discuss any local issues you may have or alternatively you can email me through the surrey police website where you can also obtain details of our surgeries . You will often see me cycling around the area so please feel free to stop me for a chat ,i am also partial to the odd cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit if you would like me to visit you at home

I joined Surrey Police in September 2005 as a Police Community Support Officer for East Molesey and Weston Green and have been here ever since, so I have a vast knowledge of the area and the people who live within it. I am your point of contact for any issues or concerns that you might have, so please don’t hesitate to contact me or stop me whilst I’m out and about on foot patrols. I work closely with external partners such as the Environment Agency, Elmbridge Borough Council and the local community to help tackle and reduce the fear crime in our borough.
