Meet your Neighbourhood Inspector Elaine Burtenshaw
With over 27 years of experience within the force, and more than half of this spent in East Surrey, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my new role as Neighbourhood Inspector for Tandridge. This experience has included working as an officer and supervisor on response patrol, community liaison, child protection, in a force-wide co-ordinator role, based at Surrey Police Headquarters in Guildford and I have also worked on the neighbouring division of North Surrey. But my experience also extends beyond the UK, working in harsh environments such as Slovenia in setting up child protection, domestic violence and vulnerable adult structures for local communities.
I’ve had a varied, challenging and exciting career and what I take most out of it is that it’s all about people, from every aspect of the community – listening, gaining trust and supporting them wherever possible. I am thrilled to be taking up this new role and I encourage the residents of Tandridge, as our partners are doing today, to work with us, to help reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods. I have an 18-year-old son and work force wide to promote diversity both internally and externally, part of which is done by being an active member of the Programme Diversity Board.
