Meet your Neighbourhood Inspector Terri Poulton

Neighbourhood Inspector

I joined Surrey Police as a regular officer in 1998 and was posted to Dorking to see out my two year probationary period. Since then I have served throughout the County and been afforded fantastic opportunities gaining experience in a wide variety of policing roles. I have worked as a detective with a special interest and experience in working with vulnerable and hard to reach victims. I have chosen to spend a majority of my career in front line roles which is where my heart really lies. Several of these years have been spent covering the Mole valley area and so I know it well.

I live in Mole Valley with my young daughter and partner and am very excited to have been given the opportunity to return to the area as the Officer responsible for delivering your local policing. I am passionate about policing and I particularly enjoy working in roles where I can directly impact on the people who call on us for help.

I have a direct and open approach to policing. My team and I will always strive to do the right thing for you. We will cut through red tape and bureaucracy and ensure we are easily accessible to you to achieve this. We will work with you and our partners to come up with real and meaningful solutions to solve issues which, you tell us, matter to you most.

Supporting our Safer Neighbourhood Teams we now have a fantastic new resource in the Neighbourhood Support Team (NST). The team contains specially trained officers with diverse skills who help us tackle and prevent crime including our youth intervention team, crime prevention officer, licensing officer and casualty reduction officer. The team also has a group of proactive officers who are available to immediately deploy to and target issues we prioritise. This could range from supporting your NSO with an emerging neighbourhood issue on your area to proactively targeting and disrupting individuals committing crime on our area and emerging crime patterns.

I have seen a fantastic level of commitment and appetite to target issues in particular diverting youth from crime and tackling anti social behaviour from our partners with whom I meet regularly. I aim to update this page regularly with examples of our projects with partners.

It is important to me that you know what we are doing, why we are doing it and that my priorities mirror yours. If you have an issue or concern please come and speak to us at one of your local panels. I take every opportunity to escape from behind my desk and so I hope to see you out and about.
