PS Sproston Runnymede Community Safety Sergeant - My Neighbourhood - Surrey Police

PS Alan Sproston

Runnymede Community Safety Sergeant

I am the Community Safety Sergeant for Runnymede and have responsibility and line management of Licensing, Crime reduction, Casualty reduction and Youth affairs. I have been in post since 15th December 2008 and work from the Police office of the Civic Centre in Addlestone. My team and I work extremely closely with statutory and voluntary partners to look for long term interventions to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour in Runnymede.

Another one of our priorities is anti-social driving and speeding in the Borough, which we are tackling under Operation Drive Smart. This is a County wide operation that is aimed at reducing unnaceptable driving and speeding.

The Community Safety Team is currently working in partnership with Runnymede Borough Council and Jubilee International School to open a Police Community Box Fit club at the gym in the Runnymede centre, Chertsey Road, Chertsey.

The club called the BIZ (Boxing Inclusion Zone) will be open to youths aged between 10 and 18 and is set to open on the 12th of February 2010. A web site with all the information relating to this is set to be launched early in the new year and details will be in the local press and youth facilities.

This is an exciting project that is aimed at providing the kids of Runnymede a sports facility that is affordable, easy to access and all inclusive. If anyone would like to know more please feel free to either E-mail or telephone me.
