PC Craig Matthews
Woking Youth Interventions Officer

I have been with Surrey Police since October 1989. After 6 and a half years as a patrol officer in the Woking area I spent four years in the Force Training School at Mount Browne. I then worked as a divisional trainer at Camberley for two years before spending three years as the Neighbourhood Specialist Officer for Brookwood, Knaphill and St Johns. In September 2005 I was appointed as the Youth Affairs Officer for Woking Borough and now work alongside YPCSO Marie Mason dealing with all aspects of youth related matters across the Borough of Woking, working in partnership with schools, youth clubs and other organisations.

Visit to Winston Churchill school
On Monday 5th July, Marie and myself had the pleasure of spending the day with year 9 pupils at Winston Churchill school. Wectook two serving prisoners from HMP Send into the school with us and they spoke to the young people about their lives, what led them to find themselves in prsion, and what prsion life is really like. It was an eye opening session for pupils and staff alike, as shown by the rapt attention paid by every single pupil. The two ladies were asked some very interesting and searching quations by the children, and I am sure that everyone gained a lot from the whole day.
Forthcoming Events
Along with the Sheerwater Neighbourhood Team, PC STuart Watt and PCSO's Neil Wilkinson and Mital Patel, I will be at the Sheerwater Fesitval on Saturday 24th July, so please come over and say hello.
Also, look out in the press for an exciting project to brighten up an area of Sheerwater which we are involved with along with pupils from Bishop David Brown School and Woking Borough Council. This is due to take place on Friday 16th July.
