Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Update: 15/07/2010 20:30:12

Welcome to our July update

Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities

You told us:

Speeding along Terrace Road and Waterside Drive

We're taking action:

Since our last update your local team and the Roads Policing Unit have been conducting high-visibility patrols and speed checks along Waterside Drive/Terrace Road. During the checks a number of vehicles were found to be exceeding the speed limit. Each driver was fined £60 and will receive 3 points on their driving licence.
We will continue to enforce the speed limit in this area for as long as this remains a priority for residents.

You may also have noticed new interactive signs in place along Terrace Road and Waterside Drive, giving the motorists who speed a reminder of the limit.

We would ask that if you witness any anti social driving, you report it using the Surrey Police Non–Emergency phone number 0845 125 2222.

Surrey Police and Surrey County Council currently have a campaign to tackle anti-social driving, called Drive SMART, running across Surrey which involves education and enforcement activity to address issues like speeding, handheld mobile phone use while driving and inconsiderate/dangerous parking.
We will be working with Elmbridge Casualty Reduction officers and local roads policing teams on this initiative.

You told us:

There are issues with youth disorder in Pankhurst Road, specifically youths shouting and causing damage.

We’re taking action:

The North Walton team continue to work with Elmbridge Housing Trust providing reassurance to residents through daily high-visibility patrols and joint visits with housing officers. Several residents have been spoken to about the behaviour of their children and action will be taken against those families that are involved in Anti Social Behaviour.

The team will continue to work closely with partner agencies tackling the community’s issues and concerns.

If you have witnessed or been a victim of anti-social behaviour please contact the Surrey Police Switchboard on 0845 125 2222 and ask to speak to a North Walton Safer Neighbourhood Officer.
Diary Sheets for recording details of anti social behaviour are available from you local team and also Elmbridge Housing Trust.

You told us:

About Anti-Social Behaviour behind the flats in Cottimore Lane

We're taking action:

We have continued to work closely with Elmbridge Housing Trust and local residents. We have met with problem tennants and agreed Acceptable Behaviour Contracts with them. We are monitoring these tennants and action will be taken if the terms of the contracts are breached.

Anti-Social Behaviour and Criminal Damage will not be tolerated. Residents are requested to report any anti-social or suspicious activity to Surrey Police or Crimestoppers and all information will be treated as confidential and actioned on by Police and partnership agencies.

About Anti-Social Behaviour issues at Thames View House

We're taking action:

The North Walton Neighbourhood team recently held a Police Surgery in the community room on the ground floor of Thames View House to give residents the opportunity to tell us about current problems. We were joined by an estates officer from Elmbridge Housing Trust and a number of residents.

We were pleased to be told that things have improved since the successful drug raids and eviction of tennants involved in criminal activity earlier this year. No new issues were raised at the meeting.

Please continue to work with us to improve your area by reporting Anti Social Behaviour and drug use to Police or Elmbridge Housing Trust.

Surrey Police will take robust action to reduce drug offences and will act on information and intelligence from members of the public.

Please call your team or the independent charity Crimestoppers if you experience any serious Anti-Social Behaviour within Thames View House and surrounding areas. When you contact Crimestoppers, you will not be asked your name or any personal information and calls do not show up on your phone bill.

About anti-social behaviour issues at Thames View House

We're taking action:

Your local PC and PCSO have been working hard to eradicate drug related criminality from Thames View House. Elmbridge Housing Trust has recently regained possession of one property in TVH following the successful eviction of a tenant involved in the supply of drugs. The property will now be rejuvenated and allocated to people who need it.

Please continue to work with us to improve your area by reporting Anti Social Behaviour and drug use to Police or Elmbridge Housing Trust.

Surrey Police will take robust action to reduce drug offences and will act on information and intelligence from members of the public.

Please call your team or Crimestoppers if you experience any serious Anti-Social Behaviour within Thames View House and surrounding areas. When you contact Crimestoppers, you will not be asked your name or any personal information and calls do not show up on your phone bill.

The Neighbourhood team will also be holding a Police Surgery at TVH on Thursday 6th May from 6pm to 7pm in the meeting room near the entrance. Your local officers will be there to offer advice and listen to any of your concerns about Thames View House.

You told us:

About graffiti and anti-social behaviour behind the flats in Cottimore Lane

We're taking action:

We have continued to work closely with Elmbridge Housing Trust and local residents over the past few weeks. People have been identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour and are being dealt with by both Surrey Police and Elmbridge Housing Trust.

We recently met with the community minded residents of the Cottimore flats and following a successful meeting a new Residents Association has been formed. This partnership will greatly improve communication between the residents and will assist Police in tackling anti-social behaviour in this area.

Our Partners at Elmbridge Housing Trust have taken action by installing new panel fencing to prevent access to the rear of the flats to unauthorised people. Graffiti has been removed and further work is planned.
Anti-Social Behaviour and Criminal Damage will not be tolerated. Residents are requested to report any anti-social or suspicious activity to Surrey Police or Crimestoppers and all information will be treated as confidential and actioned on by Police and partnership agencies.
