Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Update: 08/07/2010 08:18:27

Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities
At the most recent panel meeting:

YOU SAID
Court Recreation Ground is still an ongoing issue with people drinking alcohol and being anti-social.

WE DID
Continued our patrols of Court Recreation Ground at all times of the day and evenings
Contacted local residents who are users of the park, who have helped us identify individuals that are causing problems which is helping us deal with issues better. We have also met with the Ranger Service who have provided us with good intelligence in relation to discarded items left in the park.

YOU SAID
We should continue with the DriveSMART campaign.

WE DID
Speeding patrols in Upper High Street, patrols in Station Approach, issuing 3 driver alerts for no seat belts and we have patrolled Ashley Parade. We shall be carrying out evening patrols as well.

General update
On 11th September there will be a Help for Heroes Charity Day in the Market Square. This is being organised by some of the pubs in Epsom with the aim of raising money for the charity. It should be a fun day and will keep you all updated.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team have had to seize lots of alcohol and we would like to remind you that Rosebery Park and Court Recreation Ground are Designated No Drinking Area's regardless of how old you are.

With the hot summer months please remember that when you leave your house, close all windows and doors!

YOU SAID
Anti-social behaviour in Court Recreation Ground, Pound Lane was a problem

WE DID
Continued our patrols of Court Recreation Ground at all times of the day and evenings
Contacted local residents who are users of the park, who have helped us identify individuals that are causing problems which is helping us deal with issues better. We have also met with the Ranger Service who have provided us with good intelligence in relation to discarded items left in the park.

We feel our efforts in the area have curbed the majority of the anti-social behaviour in the park but have decided to keep it as a priority due to the summer coming up which will increase the number of people using the park. We will continue to monitor to keep under control.

YOU SAID
To continue with tackling anti-social driving around Epsom Town

WE DID
We patrolled Ashley Avenue and issued 1 ticket to a driver for using a mobile phone, one driver reported to court and 5 drivers were given words of advice given for various reasons. In East Street 10 tickets were issue to drivers for using a mobile phone, 11 to drivers for no seat and another 13 tickets given for various reason.

General update

The Town team are urging anyone who is shopping in town to make sure that their belongings are safe and secure. We are having a spate of thefts of handbags and purses within the town centre. It is easy to become distracted when you are out but please be aware of your surroundings and other people who are near you. Keep all bags zipped up, leave nothing of value on display and if someone bumps into you ensure your belongings are safe. Please do not give thieves an easy opportunity to make you a victim of crime. If you have been the victim of such crimes, please report it to the police immediately so we can bring those responsible to justice.

Anti-social behaviour in Court Recreation Ground, Pound Lane

Contacted local residents who are users of the park, who have helped us identify individuals that are causing problems which is helping us deal with the problem better. We have also met with the Ranger Service who have provided us with good intelligence in relation to discarded items left in the park and their location helps us deal with the problem.

General update

Epsom Town has had several thefts of purses and hand bags recently. Please keep your belongings secure and be aware of who is around you.

With the summer months arriving it is the perfect time for burglars to take advantage of the hot weather. Please remember to close all your windows and lock any doors when you go out.

We now have a Police surgery at the Sure Start Centre on Pound Lane which runs on the last Wednesday of every month at 0930 am. If you have any concerns we would be happy to discuss them with you
