Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Update: 01/07/2010 08:28:36

At the last Ewell Court Panel meeting on 2 June over 20 residents attended and a borough council representative.

YOU SAID there were no police issues, therefore it was decided that awareness on rogue traders would be the police priority.

In conjunction with Trading Standards and the Community Safety Team from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council, we have arranged a production of “Trickster the Musical”. This will take place on Wednesday 6th October from 7-9pm at Ewell Court House. We will look to promote this over the next month.

At the last Ruxley panel meeting on 27th May 6 residents attended together with Councillor Jan Mason.

YOU SAID there were no police issues but the following were raised which we will work with other agencies to come up with solutions.

Dog bin – Gatley Avenue
Fly tipping – recycling area Ruxley Lane junction with Gatley Avenue
Extra Street Sweep – Gatley Avenue and Watersedge
Restorative Justice – cleaning of local alleyways
Poor parking – Rosebery Housing land
Poor cycling - Watersedge

From the previous meeting

YOU SAID anti-social use of motorbikes along Hogsmill and Bonesgate open land was a problem

WE conducted regular foot patrols along the open spaces
WE seized one mini motor under section 59
WE issued a warning under section 59
WE recovered 2 mini motorbikes following decamps from police
WE reported an individual to court for several traffic offences
WE reduced complaints to police reporting this type of vehicle nuisance from numerous calls a day to about 2 in over a month.

Your Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to monitor this and recommend that you report all incidents by ringing 999 or 0845 1252222.

Your Safer Neighbourhood Team are also available to be seen at Riverview School Children’s centre for a under 5 Parent’s surgery and at The Edge for Young Person’s Surgery.

Under 5s Parent’s Surgery – 9:30am Friday 2nd July

At the last Ruxley and Ewell Court Councillor Keen and Councillor Kington attended respectively. Over 20 residents attended in total.

At both meetings there were no issues raised and it was decided that due to the weather improvement and the longer daylight hours that the riding of motor bikes and mini motos would increase along our open areas.

YOU SAID anti-social use of motor bikes and mini motos are being ridden along the Hogsmill River across Ruxley and Ewell Court ward and also along the Bonesgate stream.

WE CONDUCTED hours of foot patrol along the river and the stream. So far we have issued one Section 59 warning, seized one mini moto under section 59 Police Reform Act 2002. Police are currently investigating other offences.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue work on this problem.
