Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Update: 03/09/2010 16:18:27

Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Thank you to those that attended the panel meeting on Wednesday 1st September.

The first issue which was highlighted in the meeting was that of vehicles parked on the pavement and over driveways down Crockford Park Road. Just to clarify, it is an offence to park a vehicle on the pavement, that is made for the use of pedestrians, and a fixed penalty notice may be issued to offending vehicles. If the vehicle is blocking access to your driveway then you should first make enquiries with the neighbours to see if they know who the vehicle belongs to.

Residents also expressed concerns about excessive charity bags being delivered. If you receive a charity bag or a charity request which you suspect may not be genuine you should contact the charity to make sure it is legitimate or telephone Surrey Police straight away on 0845 125 2222. Alternatively, if you have access to the Internet you can check the charity on http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/ by typing in the charity number/name in the search facility at the top of the page.

You may or may not be aware, Surrey Police is having a 'Beat the Burglar' campaign in September. As part of this, there will be several road shows held in various parts of the county. Check the Surrey Police website for further details and your chance to win one of ten home security kits worth around £80.

We look forward to seeing you at our next panel meeting which will take place at Addlestone Community Centre on Tuesday 5th October at 6.30pm.

Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Thank you to those that attended the panel meeting on Tuesday 27th July.

The first issue which was highlighted in the meeting is the continual anti social behaviour at Coxes Lock. We have had numerous reports about groups of youths camping down at the Lock, leaving rubbish, fire-setting and swimming in the canal. Just to reiterate, this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated, and anyone seen to be mistreating it will be dealt with accordingly. The National Trust area of Coxes Lock and the Mill Pond is a beauty spot and attracts both local people and visitors especially around this time of the year. Please, if your child uses this area make sure they both respect the residents' right to peace and quiet and also that of the environment.

Another concern which was raised in the meeting is that of an increase in persons cycling on the pavement, particularly down Crockford Park Road and Station Road. Just to clarify, it is an offence to ride a pedal cycle on a footpath that it made for the use of pedestrians, and a penalty ticket with a fine may be issued.

We have also had a report of a pit bike being ridden without care or consideration up and down Bourneside Road leading to Coxes Lock. With your help, we managed to track down the owner of the bike who was given a Section 59 warning. Since this time we have received further reports of anti social use of this vehicle in which we are conducting further investigations and the appropriate action will be taken.

As you may or may not be aware, this was PC Claire Lowe's last panel meeting. She is soon to move into a new role as part of the Neighbourhood Tactical Team covering the borough of Runnymede. I hope you will join me in wishing her all the best in her new role! We hope to announce her replacement very soon.

We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting on Wednesday 1st September at 6:30pm at Addlestone Community Centre.

Again I thank you for all those attended the Panel Meeting on 23rd June 2010. It is great to see the regular faces.

The two main problems which have been highlighted from the meeting and calls from residents is the anti-social behaviour at Coxes Lock. We have had reports of persons throwing stones at duck and swans. This will not be tolerated and those persons will be dealt with accordingly. We are in close contact with the residents of Coxes Lock in the hope to irradicate this behaviour.

Parking in Victoria Road was raised. The Police in the past have tried to explore other places for the residents and visitors to park but this has proved unsuccessful. If you live or visit this road please be mindful where you park, the pavement is used regularly and should not be blocked by parked vehicles. Regular offenders will be spoken to.

In the meantime, enjoy the weather and hope to see you at the next meeting which you are all invited to on 27th July at 6.30pm at Addlestone Community Centre.
