General update

Dear Residents of Englefield Green

We hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately, the snow has made moving around the neighbourhood difficult, but on the positive side has helped keep incidents of anti-social behaviour to a minimum.

At our December 2009 Panel Meeting, the subject of speeding in and around the Forest Estate was raised and we have agreed to look at this in conjunction with Traffic Officers from Addlestone in the new year.

We are in the throes of establishing new Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in Harvest Road, Barnway and Blays Lane and would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in setting up a scheme in their own road.

It have been proven that Neighbourhood Watches do act to deter crime and anti-social behaviour because residents are observant of what is happening in their area and ready to report anything suspicious.

GENERAL UPDATED

Dear Residents of Englefield Green

Well, almost another year has gone by, where does the time go? We hope your festive arrangements are progressing well and we take this opportunity to wish you all a very
happy Christmas and New Year.

Unfortunately, burglars do not seem to celebrate Christmas, so there is an added need to be on your guard. Keep the doors locked, windows closed and locked.
If you are going away for Christmas or the New Year, remember to cancel milk and newspapers. Leave a light on a timer switch to come on at various times during the hours of darkness. If you can leave more than one light on, then the more the better.
As previously mentioned, a radio on a timer adds to the suggestion that the house is occupied. DO NOT leave a television on as this could be a fire hazard.

If you are friendly with your neighbours, ask them to keep an eye on your home and make sure any mail delivered after your departure is not visible from outside

Set alarms whenever possible.

Please refrain from leaving Christmas presents under trees in full view of windows, burglars like opening presents too!

PC Scott continues to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for dangerous or inconsiderate parking and currently has issued 100 tickets. Students will be leaving the area on or about 11 December, but rest assured PC Scott will continue with this exercise in January 2010.

With the dark evenings please remember the lights on your car, check they are working satisfactorily. Use suitable lights on bicycles please and ensure everyone in your household is wearing light or reflective clothing when out and about in the Community

GARDEN SHEDS

Unfortunately, since our last update we have experienced a spate of shed breaks resulting in the theft of a number of very expensive bicycles. Please ensure your sheds and outbuildings are securely locked.

Keep gates affording access to the rear of your property locked and check boundary fences for any damage or breakages.
