Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Update: 23/08/2010 17:04:37

5 Residents attended the New Haw and Woodham Panel meeting on Wed 18 Aug 10.

You said: There are parking issues along Queen Mary's Drive, The Avenue, Manor Drive as a result of irresponsible parking by parents dropping off and picking up children to/from school and general speeding in the neighbourhood.

We did: Created a central log for all incidents that happen near the school and would ask the community that when contacting Surrey Police about such incidents to quote RM/09/6732. We have also requested our Roads Police Community Support Officers to monitor the area and liaise with the community team to carry out joint visits to increase efficiency in dealing with motorists ie to issue warnings and fixed penalty notices. Furthermore, we contacted/liaised with Surrey County Council Highways to request road markings and other preventative measures where required and the Woodham ward Councillor advised residents that the matter will be dealt with accordingly.
Surrey Police regularly teams up with partner organisations to carry out a day of action in Runnymede to target and educate motorists driving in an anti-social manner in the New Haw and Woodham areas. Additionally, considerate parking message from Surrey Police based on SMART campaign have been sent to both New Haw Infant and Junior schools to be forwarded to all parents concerned and same message mentioned in school newsletter.

PC Shrestha and PCSO Ives continue to proactively engage with the young people in the neighbourhood and has succeeded in building an excellent rapport between the community, young people and the police hence anti social behaviour, criminal damage and underage drinking has been reduced to bare minimum.

Other New Haw and Woodham news: PC Shrestha recently teamed up with the Border Agency and the Woking Neighbourhood team to carry out raids on premises harbouring/employing illegal immigrants.
