Actions taken on the Neighbourhood Priorities

You Said…We Did

You said…speeding was still an issue in Whitmoor Road, Bagshot
We responded…with Community Speed Watch in this road
Speeding in Whitmoor Road, Bagshot is being monitored by the volunteers who carry out Community Speed Watch. The information that is being collected is fed back to the Casualty Reduction Officer for Surrey Heath, PC Mark Barry, who will deal as appropriate.
This information, which does show that there is still a speeding issue in the road, enables the local policing team to prioritise this road with speed enforcement which has been done.
Friday 16th July 2010 Enforcement between 0800 hours and 1000 hours
Saturday 17th July 2010 Community Speed Watch/Police between 1100 hours and 1200 hours

You told us… that there was social disorder in Hamilton Close/Heath Road, Bagshot.
We responded…by monitoring with regular high visibility patrols and there has not been any further incidents of anti social behaviour in this area which relates to this Neighbourhood Priority.

General update
Fourteen arrested in Surrey Heath drugs raids

Dawn raids on Thursday, 24 June in Camberley and Frimley resulted in 14 people arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
The raids, which were the culmination of the 16-week intelligence-led Operation Kingsville, saw a team of 90 detectives, dog handlers, search teams and rapid entry units successfully target 11 addresses across Surrey Heath.
DI John Cable of the Operational Proactive team said: “Operation Kingsville is focused on disrupting the supply of illegal drugs in the borough and is a result of painstaking work to draw out street level dealers.”
Neighbourhood Inspector James Norbury said: “Our challenge now is to prevent alternative suppliers filling the gap. Residents will see increased patrols in areas where there are known problems, specific targeting of locations where drugs are sold and used, together with the sharing of information with the community.”
The Surrey Heath Safer Neighbourhood Team will be working closely with partner agencies, including Surrey Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) and Surrey Heath Borough Council, to offer help to drug users to break the cycle of addiction through rehabilitation and treatment.
The Surrey Police Drugs Bus will be travelling through the area to enable local people to talk about issues or questions they may have about drugs in their neighbourhood.

Officers target more properties on day two of Operation Kingsville

Surrey Police officers have now swooped on five further properties as Operation Kingsville gained momentum.
Early morning warrants were executed in Camberley, Frimley Green and Chobham as part of the activity launched at the end of June to disrupt the supply of Class A drugs across Surrey Heath. Four people were arrested as a result of the operation and are currently in custody.
The action came as a result of a sixteen week intelligence led operation which aimed to arrest and bring prosecutions against those who have been supplying and selling illegal Class A drugs, including crack cocaine and heroin.
DI John Cable commenting on Operation Kingsville to date said: “This operation was highly successful and follows the arrest of fourteen previously. The aim was to target a large volume of Class A drug suppliers in a synchronised activity and demonstrates the determination of Surrey Police to eradicate the unlawful supply of such commodities and in doing so making our communities safer.”

Neighbours and residents in the various locations were provided with information about the raids which offered reassurance whilst encouraging the community to tell police about crime in their area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111.

A message from our new PCSO, Ed Lyons
Hello: I am Ed Lyons, the new Police Community Support Officer for Bagshot and Windlesham.

Before starting this role I studied Law at university. I have also travelled in Africa, where I coached football and taught in local schools. This was something I really enjoyed and it made me appreciate some things in life that I had previously taken for granted )such as flushing toilets!). However on one occasion we did sleep in a tree-house in the middle of a rain forest which, although not most the comfortable place to sleep, is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

I love playing and watching football. I support Newcastle United so I am very happy that we won promotion back to the Premiership this year. I am very much looking forward to the World Cup. I'm still not convinced England can win it - but anything can happen.

I am also an avid viewer of the TV series 24, although now that it's finished I'll have to find something else to watch to keep me entertained.

As I am still new to the PCSO role you may not have met me yet. I’m a very approachable person, so if you do see me please feel free to stop for a chat or to raise any concerns you may have.

I will be working closely with PC Jason Pill in helping to resolve anti-social behaviour problems and other issues in the area. Neighbourhood Policing is something that Surrey Police strongly believes in, but to ensure it is successful we need the public to tell us what is going on so that we are able to deal with the issues that most concern you. Your information can be vital.

My contact details are:
Mobile - 07967 986264
E-mail - 14208@surrey.pnn.police.uk

Please feel free to contact me regarding any issues.

However, to report a crime remember to contact either 999 if is an emergency or 0845 125 2222 for non-emergency matters.

I look forward to meeting as many local residents as possible in the coming weeks.

Profile: I have worked within the Surrey Police organisation for the past 6 years and took on the role of Neighbourhood Specialist Officer for Bagshot and Windlesham at the beginning of November 2007.
Previously I worked within the Criminal Investigation Department based at Woking where I investigated crimes committed predominantly in the Surrey Heath area. This means that I have a working knowledge of your borough and will continue to learn more about your villages as I patrol my beat.
I'm approachable and always happy to stop and talk to people.
I've a family myself and understand the importance of feeling part of a community. It is my hope therefore, that we can go some way to improving that feeling.
I feel very fortunate to have this role and look forward to meeting many of you in the future.
