Update: Godstone Panel Meeting 07/06/2010

This meeting was held at the White Hart Barn, Godstone at 7.00-7.30pm prior to the Parish Council meeting. No members of the public attended and therefore no new issues were raised.

Update: South Godstone Panel Meeting 10/05/2010

This meeting was held from 7.00-7.30pm prior to the Parish Council Meeting. Three members of the public attended plus one local councillor. Parking issues were discussed regarding obstructions caused by vehicles parking at the Easter Way/Harcourt Way junction (reference Neighbourhood issue B/07/3437). Highways have assessed the location and have agreed that parking restrictions are required and they will raise the matter at the Tandridge Parking Review in July. No new neighbourhood issues were raised.

Update: Blindley Heath Panel Meeting 12/04/2010

The meeting was held at the ‘Shud’ opposite the Forman Institute from 7.00-7:30pm prior to the Parish Council meeting. Apologies for absence were received from Cllr Childs. Present at the meeting were Cllr Rose Thorn and three members of the public. Police discussed local issues and provided the attendees with the crime statistics for the month. No new neighbourhood issues were raised.


Actions taken on your Neighbourhood Priorities

Godstone Green, outside the Old Forge Deli: TD/10/1485
Locals have complained of vehicles parking on the forecourt of the Deli, overhanging the pavement and causing obstruction. This is an ongoing issue. The Deli has placed a poster in the window advising customers not to park across the pavement. Police will conduct regular patrols and deal with offending vehicles. If any vehicles are seen causing an obstruction at this location, we would encourage the public to contact police on 0845 125 2222 quoting the reference number above. Police contacted Surrey Highways in April and have asked them to assess the location with a view to placing bollards to prevent any parking. Highways were chased on 7 June 2010 and we are currently still waiting a decision from them regarding the placement of parking restrictions.

Reservoir, North Park Lane, Godstone TD/09/3296

This is an ongoing issue from last year and calls in relation to this are expected to increase in the Summer months. The reservoir is owned by Sutton and East Surrey Water and is therefore PRIVATE PROPERTY. Persons have been committing damage to the fencing in order to break in and swim/ sunbathe at the reservoir. The banks surrounding the reservoir are extremely steep and dangerous and there are submerged items in the water making it extremely hazardous for people to swim in. Persons caught on the premises can be prosecuted by East Surrey and Sutton Water for civil tresspass. If persons are caught committing any offences including anti social behaviour and criminal damage then can be arrested by the Police and prosecuted.
As of the 1st June 2010 the reservoir area is to be used by Surrey Police Dog Section for the training of police dogs – BEWARE !

CRIMES OF NOTE FOR JUNE 2010

A total of 40 crimes were committed in the three wards, including 4 crimes of violence, 3 motor vehicles offences (theft of or theft from) and there was one house burglary.

South Godstone domestic related burglary ON 7/6/2010.

Crime committed between 20:15 on 03/06/2010 and 08:00 on 04/06/2010 at Terracotta Road, South godstone. The Catch to the petrol cap was forced back and bent to gain access to fuel tank and fuel taken.

TD/10/2830
Crime committed between 18:00 on 11/06/2010 and 13/06/2010 at Tylers Close, Godstone. Both index plates stolen

TD/10/2774
Crime committed between 18:00 and 18:30 on 10/06/2010 at Eastbourne Road , Blindley Heath. The front passenger window was smashed and a handbag and some boots were stolen.

Anti Social behaviour
I am extremely pleased that reports of anti social behaviour have continued to decrease and we hope that we can maintain this trend in the up and coming summer months.

Drive SMART campaign
As part of the year long Drive SMART campaign, a new website has been launched which allows members of the public to report anti-social driving or parking. The site also includes an interactive driving skills game and a poll where residents can vote for which anti-social driving behaviour annoys them most and also news and information about the campaign. New PCSO for Godstone ward
Congratulations to ex PCSO Matt Jones who is now PC Matt Jones and is currently at Surrey Police HQ completing his training. We look forward to Matt’s replacement joining us in the first week of August 2010

The meeting was held at the Oasis Café, Baptist Church, Godstone at 7.00-7.30pm prior to the Parish Council meeting. A small number of local residents attended along with parish and district councillors. Police discussed local issues and provided the attendees with the crime statistics for the month. No new neighbourhood issues were raised.


Actions taken on your Neighbourhood Priorities
Catlin Gardens, Godstone: TD/10/1336
Residents have complained of vehicles parking too close to the junction, also on the mini-roundabout, thereby causing obstruction. Offending vehicles will be dealt with by means of warning notices and Fixed Penalty Notices. A letter-drop was made last month informing residents of this, and as a result fewer vehicles have been causing an obstruction.

TD/10/2007 Theft of Motor Vehicle, early hours of 1/5/2010 Tylers Close in Godstone. A black Mitsubishi Warrior was stolen. It has Aquafilms sign written on the side.

TD/10/2330 Theft from Motor vehicle, 15-17/5/2010 Catlin Gardens in Godstone. Offender(s) approached a white Ford Luton van and cut off and stole the catalytic converter.

TD/10/2523 Theft of Pedal cycle, 1645-1730hrs on 26/5/2010 High Street in Godstone. Offender(s) stole a boys red mountain bike. Believed it could still be in the Godstone area.

TD/10/2255 Theft from Motor Vehicle overnight 12-13/5/2010 Featherstone in Blindley Heath. Offender(s) gained entry by means unknown and stole sunglasses and CD’s.

Anti Social behaviour
I am extremely pleased that reports of anti social behaviour have continued to decrease and we hope that we can maintain this trend in the up and coming summer months.

Parking
Highways have recently attended the junction of Easter Way/ Hunters Chase in South Godstone and the High Street in Godstone and are putting a recommendation to the parking committee to be held at the end of this week, that parking restrictions should be placed. This is excellent news and comes after a lot of hard work from residents and local police. We are hoping for a favourable outcome.
