Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities
You Said... We Did
You Said...vehicles in the local area are driving in an anti-social manner, driving at speed and parking illegally and inconsiderately. These issues affect a number of roads in both the Busbridge and Ockford Ridge/Aarons Hill areas.
We responded...by organising regular patrols which are conducted in the area by local officers, officers from the Roads Policing Unit and the ANPR team (automatic number plate recognition). These teams are looking at speeding issues, parking issues and other forms of anti-social driving (driving whilst on a mobile phone, no seat belts, etc). While patrols at varying times of the day are being conducted in the area to combat parking problems, overt and covert speed checks are also being carried out to tackle speeding issues.
If possible please supply us with as much information as possible when reporting an incident – vehicle registration, make, model, colour and location.
Burglaries in the local areas
There have been a number of burglaries in the local area over the past month and I would like to urge everyone to ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked at your home or business premises if they are being left unattended.
Keep valuables hidden away and not on display - don't invite burfulars into your area or home!
Community Speed Watch
We know that speeding is one of the factors affecting the quality of life within Waverley’s communities.
Surrey Police is currently inviting members of the public to work with us to tackle anti-social drivers and help make Surrey's roads safer by participating in a Community Speed Watch scheme. We provide full training, all the equipment – including hand-held speed detection devices – and ongoing support. Residents can then help to educate motorists regarding speed and raise their awareness of the impact that anti-social driving has on local communities. There are already around 80 such schemes in the county, making a real difference in reducing anti-social driving.
If you are concerned about speeding in your area and would like to become involved with Community Speed Watch, or if you know of any friends or neighbours who may be interested, please contact Waverley’s Casualty Reduction Officer, PC Peter Harris, on 01483 631625 or e-mail harris1767@surrey.pnn.police.uk
Theft of Pedal Cycles:
A local female has been arressted in conjunction with the recent thefts of pedal cycles from Godalming Train station. Please remember to ensure you cycles are secured when left unattended and any valuables are removed from the cycle/taken out of panniers.
Diary dates for September:

Roadside Enforcement Day
We recently carried out a roadside enforcement/education day on Portsmouth Road, Godalming. We were in company with other police units and partner agencies.
On this date we stopped 93 vehicles:
* 9 fixed penalty notices were issued
* 2 vehicles which had dangerous defects were given prohibition notices to stop them being driven any further
* 35 drivers were given roadside education, in line with the drive SMART campaign using driver alert or words of advice
* Finally one vehicle was seized for no insurance/driving licence
As you can see, it was a successful day and further operations like this will be organised soon.
