Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities and general updates

Update: 25/08/2010 12:50:52

Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities
You said, we did...
You said...that speeding traffic is the number one priority on the area.
We carried out... several hours of speed monitoring on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26th August at various point on the A283, and other roads. This was undertaken under the Surrey Police Drivesmart campaign, and several drivers were spoken to for excess speed and had the option of a Fixed penalty ticket for speeding, or driver education under the Drivesmart scheme.

You said... vehicles are parked and cause a nuisance to local residents and road users in Combe Lane Wormley.
We monitored...The Combe Lane area and where vehicles are causing an obstruction education in the form of official leaflets have been issued. Several prolific offenders have also received tickets.

NEW STREET SURGERY
Our first new street surgery has been conducted at Witley Railway Station, and thank you to all who attended at the early hour. Please keep an eye out on the meeting point dates for another new surgery at Milford Railway Station staring in the autumn.

ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR - MIDDLEMARCH WITLEY
It has been brought to our attention that anti-social behaviour is still occurring at Middlemarch. We are aware of this and it is being monitored by ourselves and the Godalming Safer Neighbourhood Team. Please report any cases of Anti Social Behaviour on the Surrey Police non emergency number 0845 125 22 22.

DAMAGE AT MILFORD HOSPITAL
We are still receiving reports of damage at the disused part of Milford Hospital. We will re-iterate that anybody found on the property will be dealt with accordingly. Please note the site is also now a designated training area for Surrey Police dog school, so anyone found on the premises may get more than they bargained for.

VAGRANT IN MILFORD
The vagrant who was reported last month in the Milford area has already been arrested, however he continues to return to the area following release. We aim to deal with this person robustly, so please report all sightings to Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222. A poster showing this man has been given to all the businesses in the Milford area for identity purposes.

CRIMESTOPPERS
If you wish to report any incident, but feel that for whatever reason you may not be able to, you can always report it on the Crime stoppers number 0800 555 111, this is a totally anonymous service.

Until next month....

Actions taken on your neighbourhood priorities
You Said....We Did
You told us...That action needed to be taken against speeding traffic on the A3100 through Milford

We responded... by setting up a multi-agency traffic operation which was carried out at Secretts on the morning of Wednesday 28 July 2010. Please see further details below.

Traffic Operation at Secretts Milford
A multi-agency traffic operation was carried out between 0700 and 1100 on Wednesday 28/7/10. The other agencies in attendance were The Benefits Agency, Waverley Borough Council Taxi Licensing, and the Environment Agency.

Results for the morning were;

• Vehicles stopped - 93
• Endorsable Fixed Penalty Notices - 5
• Fixed Penalty Notices - 4
• Vehicles prohibited - 2
• Driver Alerts (education for drivers caught speeding) - 10
• Vehicle Defects - 1
• Arrests - 1
• Verbal Warnings - 24
• Vehicle seizure for no insurance -1

From the results above this was a worthwhile operation and will be repeated in the none too distant future.

Vagrant In Milford
A previously well known vagrant has returned to the Milford area in the last few weeks.
Posters have been distributed to shops and retail premises in the village. This gentleman has been reported and seen in the Station Lane area as he commutes between Farncombe and Milford by train. He has a current Anti Social Behaviour Order in force until 2012, which prevents him entering Godalming Town Centre, any church or place of worship in the UK, and preventing him causing alarm harassment and distress. We are currently case building so please report any sightings on the 0845 125 22 22 non-emergency number.

Summer Security
Recently, albeit in Godalming, a dwelling was burgled because the occupant left all the windows open in the fine weather. If you are only going out for a few minutes please close doors and windows, it only takes a few seconds for a thief to ruin your day.

Street Meetings
Our street meetings continue to be popular, and this month sees the start of a new rail station based surgery to be held at Witley Station. (details in the panel on the right). Please come along to this or any other of our street meetings, whether you have any issues to raise or not as we are always pleased to see you.

Crimestoppers
If you have information that you believe would be of use to the police, but fear you may be targeted for divulging it, or if you don't want to be involved for any other reason, please call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Until next month,

PC Taylor and PCSO Boxall

General update

You Said... We Did

You told us... that action needed to be taken against speeding on the A283 through Witley.
We responded... by continuing our speed checks on the length of the A283 from the Cherry Tree Roundabout at Milford, to Lane End. The most recent being on Tuesday, 29 June. Offenders were duly identified and action taken against them.

You told us... about traffic travelling too fast along School Lane in Witley, at school start and finish times.
We responded... by liaising with the Head Teacher at Witley Infant School - and action will be taken against anyone found exceeding the speed limit in future.

Anti-social behaviour at Milford Hospital
Although securely fenced, the derelict area at Milford Hospital is subject to some £2,000 worth of damage each month. Shortly before the May school half-term, a large group of youths were found trespassing there. The building has an unsafe roof and loose asbestos - we were therefore concerned for the health and safety of any youngsters entering the site. By working with local schools we identified 18 youths responsible for this behaviour. Each has since received a visit from the Safer Neighbourhood Team and an official warning letter. We continue to monitor the site.

Burglar arrested in Witley
A 16 year-old youth known for burglary was arrested in Witley on Thursday, 1 July after being disturbed by the resident of a house in Wormley. PCSO Boxall and PC Taylor tracked the suspect for a mile-and-a-half through wooded countryside, with assistance from the Surrey Police helicopter and Response Team colleagues from Guildford.

Summer Security
Just a quick reminder that even if you are going out for only a few minutes, please close doors and windows. It only takes a few seconds for an opportunist thief to ruin your day.

Street Meetings
As you can see in the Meeting Point panel on the right, we hold successful, well attended street meetings in the area throughout the month. We urge you to attend whether you have issues to raise or not. We are quite happy to meet you just to say hello.

Crimestoppers
If you have any information that you believe would be of benefit to the police, but fear you may be targeted for divulging it, or if you don't want to be involved for other reasons, please call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Until next month,
