Surrey Police - A Night to Remember

A night to remember?

A night to remember poster

Surrey Police will be patrolling busy town centres over the festive period and encouraging revellers to enjoy their night out responsibly. Although most people visiting our town centres are well behaved, a minority can overdo it and spoil it for the rest. Party-goers are being urged to make it 'A night to remember' for all the right reasons and officers will be taking a robust approach towards alcohol fuelled disorder and violent behaviour. Offenders could face arrest, a criminal record and be banned from pubs, bars and clubs through the PubWatch Surrey scheme.

Top tips to stay safe

Surrey Police would like you to remember your festive night out this Christmas or New Year for all the right reasons. Here are a few tips to help you and others stay safe if you’re drinking on your night out:

  • Make sure you have eaten before your night out. This will help slow down your body’s absorption of alcohol.
  • Try sticking to daily guidelines for alcohol consumption: 2-3 units for women and 3-4 units for men.
  • Pace yourself and alternate alcoholic drinks with water or soft drinks to help keep yourself hydrated.
  • Avoid buying in rounds, which can encourage you to drink more than you want to.
  • Plan your journey home before you go out. Keep a local taxi firm’s number in your phone.
