Appeal for witnesses following robbery at Godalming convenience store
We need your help to identify two men – one of whom is wearing an inside-out coat…
We are appealing for witnesses after a robbery took place at the Co-Op on Church Road in Milford near Godalming.
Police were called at around 9.45pm on Friday, 2 February following reports that two men had assaulted shop staff before making off with an empty cash box. One member of staff sustained minor injuries and was left understandably shaken.
We’d like to identify and talk to these two men captured on CCTV. One male was wearing an inside-out brown puffer coat and gloves. The second male was wearing a black coat and carried a black Adidas holdall across his body. Both men are believed to have been wearing balaclavas or face coverings.
PC Paul Armer said,
“The attempted robbery of the Co-Op in Godalming was a frightening incident for the staff member involved. A man wearing an inside-out coat is rather unusual – if you remember seeing the two men in the CCTV images, please call.
“Our advice to shop staff would be to remain vigilant and mindful of their own personal safety at cashing up time and ensure CCTV is working and positioned correctly.
“I would like to ask anyone that may have any seen something suspicious, or have any further information to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting PR/45180012566.”
Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
