Appeal for witnesses to aggravated burglary in Epsom - offender may have suffered facial injuries

We are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Epsom which may have left the offender with facial injuries and involved the theft of a unique neck chain was taken.

Officers are asking the public to get in touch if they are offered the chain, or if anyone knows who may have been involved in the incident. It happened at an address in Tonstall Road, Epsom at 11pm on Sunday (Feb 11) when two men broke in.

The men were confronted by the homeowner and they took the chain and an iPhone 7 in a black leather case. The homeowner suffered serious injuries during the incident and he may have left one intruder with facial injuries. The victim was taken to hospital but has since been released.

The two men left the address in the direction of Briane Road. They are described as in their early 20s, approximately 6ft tall, white, of slim build and specifically:

• Dressed in grey jogging bottoms, a grey zipped up sweatshirt and a black hooded jumper. Jumper was pulled up to cover his face and his hoody pulled up over his forehead exposing only his eyes. He is thought to have brown hair.

• Dressed in black bottoms, a black zipped up sweatshirt and a black hooded jumper. His jumper was pulled up to cover his face and his hoody pulled up over his forehead exposing only his eyes as well. He is thought to have blonde hair.

Detective Constable Gemma Cherrington said:

“We are taking this incident extremely seriously and would ask anyone who has any information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who might have been offered the chain as it’s likely it has been put up for sale by now. One of the men is also likely to have facial injuries as a result of the homeowner defending themselves.

“If you know of anyone who fits the descriptions, who may also have facial injuries and could be responsible for this kind of crime, please get in touch. The men left the area down Briane Road which leads to Hook Road, and so if you were in this area on Sunday at 11pm or have and home or Dash Cam evidence, please let us know if you saw anything suspicious, possibly these two men running away, or getting into a vehicle perhaps.
