Man suffers serious head injury after assault in Epsom before Christmas

We are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Epsom which left a 25-year-old man with a serious head injury.

At approximately 3:00am on Saturday 23 December, the victim left a local bar with friends and a group of others that he had met that evening. Whilst walking towards the Clock Tower, it is reported that one of the males in the group struck the victim on the head causing him to fall to the ground. 

A number of others in the group also reported being assaulted by the same man but did not sustain any injuries.

Detective Constable Lottie Simpkins, from East Surrey Criminal Investigation Department,  said: “We spoke to a number of witnesses at the scene but due to carrying out first aid on the victim were unable to identify and speak to all those in the vicinity.

  • A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation.
