Man found guilty of murder following death of 88-year-old man in Godstone

A 41-year-old man from Lingfield has been found guilty of murder following a week long trial at Guildford Crown Court, which ended today (21 October).
Darren John Robert McClean, of Drivers Mead in Lingfield, was found guilty of murder, following the death of 88-year-old Dennis Kellond. Officers were called to Dennis’ home address in Godstone on Monday, 27 April by South East Coast Ambulance following concerns in relation to a suspicious death.
A thorough investigation by Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team identified McClean as a suspect and he was charged on Monday, 1 May.
He appeared at Guildford Crown Court today (Wednesday 21 October), where a jury found him to be guilty of murder. McClean also pleaded guilty to burglary.
He will appear at Guildford Crown Court tomorrow (22 October) to be sentenced.
