Alex Cadwell, 21 of Greenacres Avenue in Uxbridge has been found guilty of sexual activity with a child and other sexual offences following a two week trial at Kingston Crown Court.
Cadwell was arrested on Friday, 30 August after a report of a rape involving a 13 year old girl. This was reported to police on Saturday 24 August and took place in the toilets to the rear of the British Legion on Hollyhedge Road, Cobham. Over the period of a month, Cadwell had groomed the victim online, inciting them to commit sexual acts before meeting in real life. He then engaged in sexual activity with the victim.
Surrey Police swiftly responded and Cadwell was identified, arrested and interviewed. His digital devices were seized. The investigation revealed extensive online grooming of the victim, together with other offences involving other victims. Cadwell was charged and on 18 October 2019 remanded in custody until the trial.
He appeared at court today (30 November) where he was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity and meeting a child following sexual grooming. He had previously plead guilty to two counts of attempted sexual communication with a child, three counts of making indecent images of children (Cat A, B and C) and two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act.He will appear at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, 22 January 2021 for sentencing.
