Officers from Waverley’s Safer Neighbourhood Team have secured a full Closure Order against a property in Godalming.
The Closure Order was granted following years of anti-social behaviour associated with the address including threats, verbal abuse, reckless and dangerous use of catapults in public places, violence and criminal damage.
Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team worked closely with the housing department at Waverley Borough Council to gather evidence over a number of months from victims who were able to provide anonymous impact statements that conveyed the fear, anxiety and disruption to their daily lives, rights and freedoms.
The full Closure Order was granted on Tuesday 20 April under Section 80 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 by Staines Magistrates’ Court.
The order means that no-one can enter 62 Eashing Lane until 19th July 2021.
Borough Commander, Inspector Sam Adcock from Waverley’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Today’s result sends a strong message to our neighbourhoods that Surrey Police is committed to tackling behaviour that is harmful and damaging to communities and serves as a warning to the perpetrators of anti-social behaviour that we will use all available legislation to pursue them, and to ensure that they are held to account.
“Anti-social behaviour has a massive impact on communities and will not be tolerated in Waverley. The local policing team, along with our partner agencies, will continue to work together to ensure that action is taken where necessary.”
