17 more motorists, arrested during our summer drink and drug driving campaign, can now be identified having been convicted in court.
Police carried out dedicated patrols to tackle one of the five most common causes of fatal and serious injury collisions, through education, engagement and enforcement.
Of the 97 arrests, 23 people have so far been convicted. Here are the latest convictions:
Jeffery Cook, 46, of Chertsey Street, Guildford, was arrested on Dennis roundabout in Guildford, on 9 July, and was charged with driving with 48mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 26 July, he was disqualified from driving for 14 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
James Ayre, 19, of Briar Way, Guildford, was arrested on Boxgrove Avenue in Guildford, on 8 July, and was charged with driving with 60ug micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 26 July, he was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Robert Opyd, 37, of Victoria Road, Redhill, was arrested on the high street in Nutfield, on 6 July, and was charged with driving with 109mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 20 July, he was disqualified from driving for 18 months, given an community order, ordered to complete 75 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge.
Patrick Allen, 62, of Lower Delaford, was arrested on the M25 between junction 6 and 7, on 5 July, and was charged with driving with 52mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 29 July, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Kelly Thompson, 37, of Stoke Hils, Farnham, was arrested on The Street, Frensham, on 2 July, and was charged with driving with 52mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 19 July, she was disqualified from driving for 15 months, fined £24 and ordered to pay £72 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Denis Fitzgerald, 63, of Chapel Grove, Epsom, was arrested on Ewell High Street, on 30 June, and was charged with driving with 43mg of alcohol per100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 19 July, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Helen Spiers, 60, of Vixen Drive, Aldershot, was arrested on A311 in Ash, on 27 June, and was charged with driving with 41mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 12 July, she was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £553 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £55 in victim surcharge.
Lee Conlon, 36, of Eastworth Road, Chertsey, was arrested on Windsor Street on 26 June, and was charged with driving with 44mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 15 July, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £480 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £48 in victim surcharge.
Betty Nanteza, 51, of Norbury Road, Feltham, was arrested on London Road, Ashford on 26 June, and was charged with driving with 57mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 12 July, he was disqualified from driving for 15 months, fined £215 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Nicolae Astefanoae, 36, of Totland Close, Farnborough, was arrested M25 between Cobham services and junction 10 on 26 June, and was charged with driving with 107mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 12 July, he was disqualified from driving for two years, given a community order, ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge.
Kalwant Ajimal, 71, of Chasefield Close, Guildford, was arrested at Sainsburys Guildford on 23 June, and was charged with driving with 93mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 12 July, he was disqualified from driving for two years, fined £150 and ordered to pay £34 in victim surcharge.
Ben Perry, 38, of Kingsley Road, Eversley, was arrested on Marshall Road in Sandhurst on 23 June, and was charged with driving with 85mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 12 July, he was disqualified from driving for 20 months, fined £550 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £55 in victim surcharge.
Jade Robson, 30, of Nevill Street, Royal Tunbridge Wells, was arrested on Westhall Road in Warlingham on 20 June, and was charged with driving with 80mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 6 July, she was disqualified from driving for 42 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Michael Coffey, 21, of Gosforth Lane in South Oxhey, was arrested on the A3 in Guildford on 19 June, and was charged with driving with 61mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 5 July, he was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £369 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £37 in victim surcharge.
Geoffrey Rawlings, 70, of Station Road in Claygate, was arrested at the same location on 17 June, and was charged with driving with 74mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 5 July, he was disqualified from driving for 20 months, fined £138 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Shane Stynes, 20, of Eve Road in London, was arrested on the M25 between junctions 10-11 on 14 June, and was charged with driving 62mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 28 June, he was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £600 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £60 in victim surcharge.
Thomas Crux, 28, of Nethern Court Road in Caterham, was arrested on Carlton Road in South Godstone on 13 June, and was charged with driving with 95mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 13 June, he was disqualified from driving for two years, given a community order, ordered to complete 50 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge.
