Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured after a collision between his bicycle and a white ford Transit tipper earlier today.
Officers were called to the junction of the A25 Wolfs Hill with Rockfield Road, Oxted, at around 11.30 this morning. The cyclist, a man in his 50's, received serious injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital by ambulance. A second cyclist, and the driver of the white Ford transit tipper were both uninjured and are assisting officers with their enquiries. The next of kin have been made aware.
Sections of both Wolfs Hill and Rockfield Road have been closed by police to allow emergency services to carry out their work.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the immediate area in the minutes before the collision and may have seen the manner of driving of the White Ford Tipper Truck, or of the two cyclists who were travelling in convoy southbound (from Oxted) along Rockfield Road - one on a black and red road bike wearing a black helmet, and the other on a silver road bike. Officers are particularly keen to capture any dashcam or helmet cam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it.
Anyone with information that they believe could help the investigation is asked to contact Surrey Police using the chat function on the website, or by messaging privately on social media, quoting reference PR/P21147703.
