Surrey Police continue to appeal for witnesses following serious collision at Lingfield Racecourse

We are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a car drove into a crowd of people at Lingfield Racecourse on Saturday night (31 July).
Officers were called to Racecourse Road at around 10:50pm following reports of a white Vauxhall Corsa colliding with a number of vehicles and pedestrians causing injuries and damage.
Detective Constable Nick Boulton, who is investigating has said “This collision took place following a busy event with around 9000 attendees and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed either the collision itself or the events leading up to it to get in contact.
“We would like to also reassure the public that this is not believed to be terror related.
“Those injured were taken to hospital where they have since been discharged.
“If you have any relevant footage including CCTV, Dashcam or footage caught on your mobile you can upload directly to us.”

A 23 year-old man from Lingfield has been arrested in connection with this investigation. He has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
