Officers are continuing to investigate after a man was left in a critical condition having been stabbed in Tongham last Friday.
The investigation has established that the incident took place in an alleyway near the Cricketers public house in Oxenden Road in Tongham shortly after 9.00pm last Friday night (15 October). The man remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Detective Inspector Jo Horner said: “There has been a considerable police presence in the Tongham area over the last week. We have completed a number of enquiries but there is still more work to be done to help us to understand exactly what has happened.
“We would like to reassure the local community that we are doing everything we can to secure evidence and ensure that the offenders are brought to justice. We would also like to stress that we believe the offenders and victim were known to each other, and that this was an isolated incident.”
DI Horner added: “We are still appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who may have been driving past at the time and has any dashcam footage of the incident, or who was walking in the nearby area, to come forward as soon as possible as this could be extremely helpful to our investigation.”
