We are currently investigating after a car was driven dangerously throughout Guildford in the early hours of Sunday morning, (7 November).
At around 3.45am officers on patrol spotted a blue Land Rover Discovery driving southbound at speed along Woodbridge Road. The car was seen erratically overtaking vehicles and also drove into the path of oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the road.
The vehicle passed through Guildford and along the A3100 before the driver lost control of the vehicle at the roundabout near Guildford Crematorium. The car mounted the verge and collided with a lamp post. Fortunately the three occupants of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
Officers attended the scene and a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failure to stop, driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol and driving whilst unfit through drugs. He has been released under investigation.
PC Theresa Clancy said: “The vehicle was seen driving recklessly through Guildford putting other road users at risk. Surrey Police deals with dangerous drivers in a robust manner to help keep our county’s roads safe.”
