We are appealing to the public for help with an ongoing aggravated robbery investigation in Farncombe.
We are currently investigating an armed robbery on St Johns Street in Farncombe on Friday, 7 January. Officers were called to outside the Co-Op shop following reports of an armed robbery which had occurred around 9am.
The victim, who worked for a security company was transporting a box containing cash into the store when they were approached by a man carrying a firearm. The victim then dropped the box before the suspect picked it up and ran off. The victim was unharmed but left shaken.
An investigation is underway to identify the individual involved. The suspect was wearing a grey tracksuit, and believed to be a white man.
Officers have since discovered the stolen box, which was found a short distance away on Unstead Lane in junction with Foxburrow Hill in Bramley.
We are appealing to anyone who may have been in that area around that time and could have witnessed the disposal of that box to contact us. We are appealing to anyone in that area that may have witnessed a vehicle that seemed unusual to contact us, no matter how small the detail. We are also appealing to anyone driving in this area that may have dashcam footage that they would be willing to share with us, to contact us.
Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Hastings said “Enquiries remain ongoing in this investigation and we are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious on Friday, 7 January near Unstead Lane to contact us.
“This is quite a remote area which is mostly used by dog walkers so we’re hoping that anyone who may have witnessed the disposal of this box would be able to remember and then contact us to assist with our enquiries.
“As well as this, anyone with any further information which could help, we urge you to contact us as a matter of urgency”.
