A dangerous driver will spend two months behind bars after being arrested for a variety of driving offences.
Josh Makepeace, 25, of Station Approach, Woking, was seen by officers driving erratically on White Rose Lane in Woking, in the early hours of 20 June in 2021.
After being flagged to pull over by officers, Makepeace failed to stop and promptly fled the scene causing a police pursuit. When he was eventually brought to a safe stop, he was arrested and charged with failure to stop, driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and driving above the specified limit for three different drugs.
At his sentencing at Staines Magistrates' Court on 14 February, he received two months imprisonment, was disqualified from driving for three years and ordered to pay £128 in victim surcharge and £40 in costs.
Investigating Officer PC Robert Hall, said: "Dangerous driving can have devastating consequences for not only the driver but also innocent bystanders. It was extremely lucky that no-one was killed in this incident and we will not tolerate this type of selfish behaviour on the roads of Surrey. We hope that the fact that Makepeace will spend some time behind bars, will serve as a reminder that where possible we will always pursue convictions for careless drivers."
