We are appealing for witnesses after we were called shortly after 2.30pm yesterday (8 February), following reports of a group of young men running down Ladbroke Road, Redhill, with one carrying what was described as a large knife.
Officers including the police helicopter and Armed Response Officers were deployed to the scene and 9 young men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and affray.
A section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 was put in place for Redhill Town Centre and will remain until 6pm tonight (9 February). This gives all officers power of stop and search in that locality.
Enquiries are ongoing but officers do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam, CCTV or video doorbell footage, to contact us quoting incident reference PR/P22028590 via:
If you do not wish to leave your name, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
