A man who was running a drug line from his Guildford bedroom has been jailed for four years.

Khalid Chowdhury, 22 of Worplesdon Road, Guildford, appeared at Guildford Crown Court last Thursday (10 March), where he pleaded guilty to multiple drugs offences.

Chowdhury was identified as the main suspect in a large investigation into an active drugs line which was carried out by Surrey Police. Phone work indicated that Chowdhury was involved in the supply of cannabis and cocaine to vulnerable drug users across Surrey.

On Tuesday, 25 January, officers conducted a warrant at Chowdhury’s home address in Guildford. A number of items were found including three mobile phones, £5,755 in cash, bags of cannabis and weighing scales.

Chowdhury was arrested and swiftly charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A, possession of criminal property, being concerned with the supply of Class B drugs and possession of Class B drugs. Analysis work on the seized phones revealed that Chowdhury had been sending multiple messages indicative of drug dealing, describing his drugs as the “best in Surrey”.

The court heard how Chowdhury’s initial drug use was the catalyst for his offending, due to the criminality he was involving himself in.

As well as the prison sentence, the judge ordered that the money seized from Chowdhury should be donated to the Surrey Community Foundation.

Investigating officer, PC David Oliver said: “Our officers are working tirelessly behind the scenes to identify active drugs lines and hold those running them to account.

“In this case, Chowdhury was operating a drugs line from his bedroom in his family home and was selling to vulnerable drug users, particularly in Guildford.

“Having the public’s eyes on the ground is crucial to help us tackle drug related crime in Surrey. If you suspect drug dealing, please contact us.”
