A Woking man has pleaded guilty after being arrested for drink-driving as part of Surrey Police's crackdown on the offence.
Enerst Masango, 47, of Mayhurst Avenue, Woking, was arrested on the A320 in Chertsey on 11 December, after crashing his car into a taxi whilst on the Six Crossroads roundabout.
Masango was charged with driving with 92mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 7 February, he was disqualified from driving for two years, ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work and ordered to complete a rehabilitation programme.
He was among 174 motorists arrested during Surrey Police’s festive crackdown on drink and drug-drivers, which ran from 1 December to 1 January.
Of those, 23 have already since been convicted in court. The remaining have either been charged, released under investigation, or released without charge.
The latest eight people convicted in court are:
Daniel Gardiner, 46, of Porchfield on the Isle of Wight, was arrested on the A3 at Painshill on 13 December, and charged with driving whilst under the influence of cannabis.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 7 March, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £120, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Harry Glover, 20, of Reading Road, Fleet, was arrested on London Road in Camberley on 17 December, and charged with driving whilst under the influence of cannabis.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 1 March, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £350, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £35 in victim surcharge.
George Payne, 28, of Woburn Avenue, Farnborough, was arrested on Guildford Road, Normandy, on 16 December, and charged with driving whilst under the influence of cocaine.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 1 March, he was disqualified from driving for 18 months, fined £500, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £50 in victim surcharge.
Michael Whitley, 24, of Gilmore Crescent in Ashford, was arrested on The Avenue in Sunbury-on-Thames, on 17 December, and charged with driving with 126mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 28 February, he was disqualified from driving for 14 months, fined £253, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Sana Kahloon, 36, of Nunhead Land, Peckham, was arrested on Banstead Road in Epsom on 14 December, and charged with driving with 125mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 28 February, she was disqualified from driving for 14 months, fined £553, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £55 in victim surcharge.
Nikolay Butilov, 42, of Worplesdon Road, Guildford, was arrested on the A3 near Guildford, on 11 December, and charged with driving with 97mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 7 February, he was disqualified from driving for two years, given 80 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge.
Peter Corry, 37, of Southway, Guildford, was arrested on the same road on 12 December, and charged with driving with 93mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 21 January, he was disqualified from driving for 23 months, fined £185, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.
Andrew Stewart, 50, of Claire Road, Staines-upon-Thames, was arrested on Ashford Road, Laleham, on 11 December, and charged with driving with 66mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
At Staines Magistrates’ Court on 17 January, he was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £400, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £40 in victim surcharge.
