We’re appealing for help to identify two men we would like to speak to in connection with a Hate Crime in Guildford on 30 April.
The victim was in Casino nightclub with his friends when a man began verbally abusing him with homophobic language before punching him to the face. After the victim left the nightclub sometime between 4am and 5am, the same man approached him on Onslow Street outside Guildford Magistrates’ Court and verbally abused him, again using homophobic language.
The man then punched the victim to the face several times before he fell to the ground and a second man kicked him. The two men then left the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
Police Constable Caroline Janaway, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was an abhorrent assault on a man who had been relentlessly targeted for no other reason besides his perceived sexuality. Hate Crime of any kind has absolutely no place in Surrey and we will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“We believe the men seen in these CCTV images may be able to help with our investigation. Although we appreciate the images are blurry, if you think you know them, please get in contact with us straightaway.”
