We are continuing to investigate after a body was discovered following a fire at an address in Ewell in the early hours on Monday (12 December).
Officers were called to an address in Thorndon Gardens around 1.50am after the body was discovered in an upstairs bedroom.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
The search and further enquiries within the property remain ongoing.
Epsom and Ewell Borough Commander Inspector Jon Vale, said: “We appreciate that this incident has caused considerable concern amongst the local community and we would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to establish what has happened.
