Drug dealer caught in proactive stop, given 6 years in prison

A man has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs in Surrey.

Guvin Sarai, 25, (DOB 17/12/1998), of Bannister Close in Slough, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on 8 April.

The investigation into Sarai first began back in March of 2020 after officers on proactive patrols in Egham, spotted Sarai acting suspiciously whilst in a Volkswagen Golf car. When officers pulled the car over, they noticed a strong smell of cannabis and observed Sarai in possession of two phones including a Nokia burner phone that would not stop ringing. 

When a search of Sarai was carried out by officers, several grip seal bags containing cannabis and cocaine were uncovered.

A further search was executed at an address linked to Sarai and in a bedroom of the property a substantial amount of cocaine and cannabis with a street value of £4330, £1676 in cash and lists of drug users, were all found.

Officers worked hard to ensure a comprehensive case was put forward to the Crown Prosecution Service, including extensive examinations of mobile devices and forensic analysis, resulting in Sarai pleading guilty to the offences.

Investigating officer, PC Katherine Stevens, added; “The successful conviction of Sarai was the result of some great proactive police work, and he will now spend six years in prison. Drug dealing can have a hugely detrimental impact on the local community, and we will continue to go after those people who disregard the law for their own greed.”
