Do you remember the case of the Vauxhall Astra and the fingerprint from December? (Recap here: The case of the re-appearing Vauxhall Astra | Surrey Police)
Well, the puzzle is now complete after Wberney Bermudaz was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Friday 7 June 2024.
Bermudaz, (36) born 15/10/1987, was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment for 1 count of residential burglary after pleading guilty.
After identifying the first two suspects, further investigations continued, and a fingerprint match to one left at the scene then linked the third man, Mr Bermudaz to the case. He was subsequently arrested on 2 November and charged with Burglary dwelling with intent to steal.
Investigating Officer, DC McBain said: "I'm so glad that each of the defendants has received a custodial sentence for this terrifying offence which left a family in fear. We hope that this result has reassured them and sent a message that we will not tolerate this type of crime in Surrey. It's been a long time coming to secure convictions against all three defendants, but persistence and a determination to see justice served, helped us get this across the line."
