A prolific shoplifter has been issued with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Michael Davis, 40, of Hatton Gardens, Mitcham, was given the order after he pleaded guilty to a total of 29 offences, including attempted burglary, fraud by false representation and thefts across Epsom and Ewell at Guildford Magistrates Court on 25 September.
The order instructs Davis to not to enter any shop which sells goods without a means to pay, and he must not conceal any items within any retail premises. Where asked by a police officer, he must be able to produce a receipt for any purchased goods. Davis has also been ordered not to touch or enter any unattended vehicle without permission of the owner.
Along with the order, Davis was handed a one-year suspended sentence, must participate in drug rehabilitation, and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
Borough Commander for Epsom and Ewell, Inspector Kelly Clifton-Sinclair, said: “Shoplifting often has a detrimental impact on businesses within our town, and I hope this outcome reassures the community we take these offences seriously.
“I would like to give my thanks to all the staff and officers who worked hard to secure this result, and the team will continue to monitor the terms of this order and ensure they are adhered to.”
