We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Guildford that left a man with serious injuries.
Officers were called to Walnut Tree Close in Guildford on Friday, 17 January at around 6.30pm following a collision between a pedestrian and the driver of a car close to the Riverside Business Centre. The driver failed to stop at the scene.
The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.
A man in his 60s was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving, causing serious injury by driving without due care, and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He has been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.
We are now looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have any information that could assist our investigation. We are particularly interested in tracing the movements and manner of driving of a black Mercedes SUV prior to the collision.
Were you travelling in the area around Walnut Tree Close between 6.20pm and 6.40pm on Friday, 17 January? Do you have any CCTV, dash cam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident?
