Our team are dedicating to tackling shoplifting, through holding engagement events at hotspot retail locations, providing a visible police presence in prolific areas. Our team regularly works with the businesses that have been impacted by retail crime to improve reporting and evidence collecting, as well as actively pursuing offenders to arrest and convict repeat shoplifters. PCSOs regularly hold Engagement Stands at hotspot locations to provide support for the businesses effected, and be on hand to answer any questions or concerns people may have.

Surrey Police has seen an increase in calls surrounding Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in public places, often caused by groups of young people gathering after school. The use of catapults on wildlife and criminal damage was frequently reported. The hotspot locations and repeat offenders are a priority when it comes to tackling ASB in Ash Vale and Ash Wharf.

Our team has increased their presence in Ash over the last 3 months. Officers and PCSOs have completed more foot patrols in hotspot locations where ASB crimes are being frequently reported. The types of crimes that are being reported are use of catapults on wildlife and criminal damage, and officers are aiming to respond to more of these ASB calls in person. Further day action is planned with rural partners and the community to conduct reassurance patrols and education on crime prevention techniques
