Retail Crime. This has a significant impact on both businesses and consumers. Retail workers often find themselves in harms’ way and subject to abuse and violence. This is unacceptable and must be stopped. Repeat locations and offenders will be targeted.

Regular engagement with retail premises in Merstham. The deployment of plain clothes officers into shops which have been targeted repeatedly, alongside security, to catch and convict repeat shoplifters. Intelligence sharing meetings with neighbouring forces.
Theft From Motor Vehicles. In recent months there has been an increase in thefts from motor vehicles. Reports made to Police confirm sightings of unknown offenders trying multiple door handles and targeting insecure vehicles.

Increased proactive patrols by the Safer Neighbourhood Team and additional overnight patrols from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (Response). Crime prevention advice has been circulated via social media.
