Neighbourhood policing within Surrey Police is delivered by Safer Neighbourhood Teams in each of the 11 districts and boroughs of the County. Each neighbourhood within the districts and boroughs is served by a dedicated team of officers and staff.
Neighbourhood Teams provide community engagement, targeted foot patrols and collaborative problem solving to tackle the issues that cause the greatest harm in our communities. Teams are made of sergeants, police officers and PCSOs, led by the Borough Commander, with further support provided by other team members - with specialisms in youth engagement, licensing and crime prevention.
Preventing burglaries.
Issued 01 July 2026
We have met with residents and the local MP to discuss burglaries which historically occur over the winter period. We are putting in prevention methods and we informed residents of recent charges in relation to some burglaries this year. We have provided crime detail to the MP for them to have discussions with network rail to prevent persons accessing houses from the rail network. We are also investing in ANPR infrastructre with the help of Runnymede Borough Council to improve or intelligence and detection in the area. The ANPR cameras are now installed and we are using current intelligence to form our response to burglaries during the winter months where we typically see a rise.
