A drug dealer has been sentenced to more than two years behind bars following a successful stop and search in Redhill.
On Thursday, 30 May, officers stopped 25-year-old Daniel Silva. When searched, he was found in possession of two ‘baggies’ of suspected cocaine. Larger amounts of suspected class A drugs were subsequently found at his home address, pre-packaged and ready for sale.
Evidence was also found of the profits of Silva’s criminal endeavours. Officers found cash, expensive clothing and shoes, and Rolex watches, supected to have been funded by his illegal activities and “consistent with living an extravagant lifestyle”.
Silva, (16/06/1999), of Fairfax Avenue, Redhill, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 18 July. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
Investigating officer PC Emilie Budd, said: “This outcome demonstrates our commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour and criminality in Redhill, both of which can have a hugely detrimental impact on law-abiding residents.
“We hope this outcome will serve as a warning that drug dealing will not be tolerated in our community. This sentencing is just one part of a much larger goal we are working towards to make Redhill a safer place to live and work, and we have no intention of stopping yet. The positive result was a team effort, which only emphasises our determination in bringing such offenders to justice."
