We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing a vehicle involved in a fail to stop collision in Guildford last night.
Officers were called to Egerton Road shortly after 9pm last night (Sunday, 9 November) following reports of a collision involving the driver of a dark grey car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, an 18-year-old man, has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The collision occurred at a mini roundabout on Egerton Road close to Joseph’s Kebab Van. The driver of the car failed to stop and fled the scene in the direction of Park Barn.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Kani Barawi, said, “We need your help to find the driver and vehicle involved in a collision that has left a young man fighting for his life in hospital.
“The vehicle we are looking for is thought to be a grey vehicle. We know it will have significant damage to the front nearside and a smashed windscreen, so we are particularly appealing to anyone working at a local garage who might have had a vehicle brought in today with this level of damage to get in touch.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area, including CCTV, but we ask that anyone with any other footage that may have captured all or part of the incident – and particularly the vehicle fleeing the scene of the collision – to review mobile phone, dashcam, or helmet cam footage for anything that may assist our investigation.
“Were you in the area around Egerton Road at around 9pm last night – maybe on your way to or from the Royal Surrey Hospital, Tesco, or Surrey Sports Park? Were you driving or walking back in the direction of Park Barn? Did you see a vehicle with a smashed windscreen and front nearside damage being driven in this area last night or this morning?
“Finally, we believe there may have been multiple people in the car at the time of the collision. If you were one of these people, we urge you to do the right thing and come forward and speak to us.”
